LIGHTFAIR International 2010, LISLE, USA: The Helieon Sustainable Light Module was recently announced as the industry’s first easily replaceable, socketed LED module with mass-market pricing.
On the heels of winning the LIGHTFAIR 2010 “Innovative Product of the Year” Award, Molex Inc. announced that it will be licensing its Helieon interconnect technology IP portfolio. Licensing of the socketed, interconnect interface used in the Helieon module will enable lighting fixture manufacturers globally to develop products based on the technology, allowing for faster industry adoption.
By supporting the industry standardization of the Helieon module interconnect technology, Molex is helping to ensure long-term design opportunities while protecting the development investment of fixture manufacturers and their valued customers worldwide.

The Helion module allows lighting environments to be easily changed or adapted by switching beam angles, color temperatures or light output at the module level, without any change to the luminaire. It therefore enables manufacturers to deliver a variety of lighting effects from a single luminaire design and to take advantage of future LED technology improvements, pre- or post-installation.
Emulating traditional lighting sockets, the Helieon module easily turns and locks into place while providing a long-lasting, eco-friendly, durable solution that can deliver energy savings of up to 80 percent.

Luminus Devices announces partnership with ABS Lighting
BILLERICA, USA: Luminus Devices, Inc., designer, developer and manufacturer of high light output PhlatLight LEDs, announced its expansion into the transportation industry through a partnership with ABS Lighting.

TI's Philippines facility awarded LEED Gold certification
CLARK FREEPORT, PHILIPPINES: Texas Instruments (TI) Inc. announced that the US Green Building Council (USGBC) has awarded its new assembly/test facility in the Clark Zone, Philippines a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification, distinguishing the site as the first Gold-certified facility in the Philippines.
"The LEED Gold certification is a validation of TI's commitment to environmental stewardship and to the health of the communities where it operates," said Bing Viera, managing director of TI's operations in the Philippines. "The Clark facility was designed from the ground up to maximize manufacturing capabilities and minimize environmental impact."
The newly constructed 780,000 square foot facility is located on the former USA Clark airbase in the Pampanga province of the Philippines on the northern island of Luzon. TI has had a manufacturing presence in the Philippines for more than 30 years and earned a LEED-NC Silver certification on its Phase V expansion project in Baguio City last year. The Phase V project was the Philippine's first LEED certified building.
TI began using USGBC LEED rating systems to guide continuing improvements for construction and sustainability in the early 2000s when the company constructed the world's first LEED Gold certified semiconductor manufacturing facility, RFAB, in Richardson, Texas.

Agilent N6705A power analyzer showcased in element14 video

Pickering Interfaces intros new PXI USB switch
CLACTON ON SEA, UK: Pickering Interfaces is expanding its range of PXI switching products with the introduction of the 40-737 USB switch.
The 40-737 is an 8 channel multiplexer designed specifically for switching USB signals. The new module permits users to connect and disconnect USB devices in test systems and is particularly well suited for the bulk testing of USB devices. Each path is designed to be compliant to USB cabling standards with controlled impedance data lines.
USB powered devices requiring the highest permitted current are supported through the use of low impedance power connections.
Each path is capable of supporting USB1.1 or USB2.0 with negligible impact on the cabling distance supported by USB devices thanks to the wide differential bandwidth.
To simplify cabling support the 40-737 uses a USB Type B connector on the common and USB Type A connector on the 8 channels, allowing users to directly connect using industry standard USB leads.

Flextronics to open new power facility in Ganzhou, Jiangxi, China
SINGAPORE: Flextronics held a signing ceremony in Shenzhen, China, to formally announce plans to develop a Power manufacturing and service facility in Ganzhou, Jiangxi.
Distinguished members of the People's Government of Ganzhou, the Ganzhou Economic and Technology Development Zone Administration Committee and the Ganzhou Export and Processing Zone Administration Committee participated in today's signing ceremony.
In addition to providing telecom, computing and consumer OEMS with a range of power services from this location that will include standard chargers, magnetics and cables, Flextronics will develop this site for reverse logistics and repair activities specific to the power industry.
This highly synergized, vertically integrated power campus, which will be positioned in proximity to key customer markets, is expected to be completed by April 2011 in a two-phase build-out.
Flextronics selected the Jiangxi province to expand its Power operations based on the high level of executive support from the local government, the educated and talented personnel, the advantage of the multiple export processing zones and excellent logistics infrastructure.
