MELBOURNE, USA: AuthenTec, the world’s leading provider of smart fingerprint sensors and solutions, has introduced its newest smart sensor specifically tailored for convenient security, personalization and touch-based functionality in today’s PCs and peripherals.
AuthenTec’s new AES2660 192-pixel-wide sensor complements the AES1660, a 128-pixel wide smart sensor for the PC market introduced six months ago, giving PC OEMs the ability to choose the appropriate sensor for the particular requirements of each individual product.

The AES2660 is the next generation of our PC series of sensors, tens of millions of which have been shipped to the world’s leading PC OEMs, and will give our customers the ability to choose the physical size that best fits their specific design requirements.”
The AES2660 incorporates programmable LED drivers supporting 24-bit resolution, or 16 million color options, offering PC manufacturers flexible lighted LED fading, blinking and color control options that enhance PC feature discovery and the PC user experience. AuthenTec will begin volume shipments of the AES2660 sensor this quarter.
The AES2660 sensor is based on AuthenTec's patented and unique TruePrint technology that reads below the surface of the skin to the live layer where a person's true fingerprint resides.
This patented subsurface approach enables AuthenTec sensors to read virtually every fingerprint, every time - a critical requirement in any fingerprint-enabled device. The sensor also includes AuthenTec’s TrueNav menu navigation features, TrueFinger anti-spoofing security, and TrueMatch pattern matching to ensure the industry's highest level of security, usability and convenience.
Complementing AuthenTec’s smart sensor offering for the PC market is the Company’s TrueSuite client application software designed to make a fingerprint-enabled PC simpler and more secure, while increasing user convenience and personalization. TrueSuite is tailored for consumers who demand simplicity, improved usability, and one-touch access to their digital ID and social networks.
