Avnet Embedded adds embedded electronics from SECO to Americas offering

PHOENIX, USA: Avnet Embedded, a division of Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas, a business region of Avnet Inc., has inked a distribution agreement with SECO, a manufacturer of computer-on-modules (COM), carrier boards, single-board computers and peripheral boards. This distribution agreement encompasses the Americas region.

Engineers designing for medical, gaming, industrial automation and other applications are increasing their demand for commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions, in order to lower development costs and lessen production time. SECO’s product portfolio offers a variety of processor architectures including ARM and x86, and small form factors enabling advanced processing in space-constrained applications.

The various architectures provide the flexibility to optimize applications across the most popular operating systems and software applications. SECO’s Qseven-based modules allow customers who prefer to utilize COTS boards to choose between RISC and x86 architectures for their embedded application. Measuring 7x7 cm, the Qseven enables customers to customize their own carrier board by defining the I/O and peripherals best suited for their end-product.

“We chose Avnet as a distribution partner because of the unmatched design and supply chain support they offer their customers,” said Daniele Conti, president of SECO. “Our product line is a complement to the extensive embedded offering that Avnet provides and we are looking forward to serving our mutual customers throughout the Americas.”

“Adding SECO to the Avnet Embedded line card allows our customers more flexibility when selecting form factor and processor architectures – speeding their time to market,” said Chuck Kostalnick, senior VP of Avnet Embedded Americas. “The breadth of Avnet’s embedded offerings, combined with our team of embedded experts, ensures that our customers will be designing in leading-edge technology that can stand the true test of time.”
