‘element14 Features’ brings a comprehensive and integrated set of design solutions to Asia Pacific

SINGAPORE: element14 (formerly Farnell), the first electronic component distributor that fuses commerce and community, announced that the newest edition of the ‘element14 Features’ will focus on a wide range of connectors, cables and electromechanical products.

Engineers will be able to access, from its 130,000-strong inventory in the Asia Pacific, the most comprehensive range of resources related to these three product categories as well as printable reference documents and a free wall chart upon registration.

element14 offers the widest range of connectors stocked in the region, as well as a wide spectrum of cables and electromechanical products via its high service, multi-channel operations with next day delivery to most cities in Asia Pacific. Customers can find reliable and high performance products from global manufacturers including TE Connectivity, Belden, Littelfuse, Omron, ProPower and Multicomp where discounts of up to 45 percent will be available for selected products.

Within the ‘element14 Features’ section, users will be able to retrieve useful technical information on connectors and switches as well as fans and enclosure products; the information helps engineers to understand and maximise the utilities of their desired products. Users also benefit from element14’s platform as they can compare detailed specifications across the different product categories and determine compatible products for their designs.

In addition to element14’s 24/7 customer service and 24/5 online technical support, the new element14 knode, the world’s first design solutions gateway enables engineers to use a full suite of design tools such as development kits and software tools like CAD software. Through element14’s online platform, element14 members can now find the different engineering resources that support the electronics products from concept through to end of life, consolidated in one dynamic reference point, thus improving time to market and overall efficiency.

“As the Asia Pacific manufacturing sector continues to grow and consumer demands require increasingly complex electronic solutions, engineers are constantly challenged to find versatile and integrated solutions for their designs,” says Marc Grange, Head of Product Management, element14, Asia Pacific.

“element14 understands design engineers’ need to combine different components seamlessly in order to maximise the functionality of their designs. That is why we are featuring three different product categories this month from which engineers will be able to select the most compatible components across different product families to create solutions more efficiently.”

Reliable solutions that power electronic innovations
The featured technologies are staple components for all electronic and electrical equipment and they include switches, relays, fuses, fans, enclosures, as well as connectors, cables and accessories. Switches, terminals and fuses allow electronic devices across all industries to come to life and regulate the flow of electricity to ensure that the safety of its users will not be compromised.

element14’s product offering includes:
* TE Connectivity SFV series Fast-Acting Chip Fuse is a series of wire-in Air SMD fuses which is suitable for secondary level over-current protection applications. Equipped with low temperature derating, it is designed to withstand extremely high temperatures (between 150 °C to 250 °C). These versatile products also have a wide range of current rating, ranging between 0.5A to 20A, which allow engineers to use them in a wide class of electronics.

* Weidmuller Push-in Terminal Block is a new generation of compact and flexible modular terminals that feature Weidmuller’s cutting edge “Push In” Connection technology that enables a reduction in the terminal variants while providing incredible cost savings. The direct Push In technology helps engineers to achieve up to 50 per cent reduction in time, thus improving time to market and providing a reliable, vibration-resistant, gas-tight connection.

* Omron Subminiature Basic Switch series comprises a spectrum of versatile components that are suitable for a wide range of applications, including home appliances, audio equipment, office machines and communications equipment. It incorporates snapping mechanisms consisting of two highly precise split springs that ensure longer life expectancy. These components also use insertion molded terminals and a two-stage bottom with different levels to prevent flux penetration, thus protecting the end product from unexpected electrical surge and ensuring the safety of the users.

* TE Connectivity machined brass, heavy nickel plated, A series Toggle switches are sturdy devices that are ideal for equipment operating in extreme conditions. These tools have an enduring lifespan that can withstand up to 30,000 cycles with functionality that remains uncompromised between -4°C to 85 °C. They negate the need for regular replacements, providing the end-user with reliability and quality.

In order to provide additional resources to support engineers’ needs to create effective and integrated solutions, element14 has also launched a new Cadsoft website to the Asia Pacific engineering community. Engineers can have access to the latest version of the award-winning EAGLE software, complete with the new “DesignLink” functionality and understand the capabilities of EAGLE through discussion forums, video tutorials, webinars and the most updated FAQs.

element14 members can also review projects created by Cadsoft and other users through this content-rich website. The flawless combination of high quality components with high performance design software will help to promote and enable innovations in the market and improve market to time.
