KEMP, USA: Magnalight by Larson Electronics announced the release of a 50 foot long explosion proof extension cord designed to handle 30 amps of continuous service. Designed to provide a safe and regulation compliant option for extending cord lengths and connecting electrical equipment within hazardous locations, the EPEXC-50-30A-P 30 amp explosion proof cord is approved and certified for Class 1 Div 1 & 2 environments.
The Magnalight EPEXC-50-30A-P explosion proof 50' extension cord with 30 Amp continuous service rating provides operators in hazardous locations with a safe and effective method for extending the range of equipment and cords within the hazardous workspace. Designed with durability and safety in mind, this 50 foot long explosion proof extension cord is constructed with 12/3 SOOW explosion proof cord rated at 30 amps of continuous service. Connection is provided with the inclusion of a 30 amp rated pin and sleeve style plug and matching receptacle to allow the most secure and effective connection possible.
The explosion proof plug and receptacle on this cord are of a 4 pole 3 wire configuration and designed to slide and lock into place. The operator inserts the plug to the first stop, turns the locking mechanism to the right, and then finishes inserting the plug until it locks into place. This design provides a secure and positive connection and protects against pull-outs. The receptacle is constructed of non-sparking aluminum and malleable iron for durability while the plug is constructed of heavy non-sparking aluminum.
The receptacle features deep recessed contacts which prevents accidental contacts and contains constant pressure brass contacts to ensure a secure connection. Magnalight also includes an additional plug with this cord to allow operators to avoid any issues with matching their equipment plug to this cord's receptacle. If the cords do not match, the operator can simply install the included extra plug on their equipment.
This heavy duty 30 amp extension cord is approved for Class 1 Division 1 & 2 and Class 2 Division 1 environments where flammable gases and vapors are present.
"We offer a wide range of explosion proof extension cords with different lengths and connectors in stock; we also build custom configurations for customers on demand," said Rob Bresnahan with Larson Electronics' Magnalight.com. "We commonly build these cords for our customers to accompany our explosion proof lights and/or our power distribution systems."
