CUI announces advanced power topology license agreement with California Power Research

TUALATIN, USA: CUI Inc., a subsidiary of Waytronx Inc., has entered into an exclusive Field of Use Agreement with California Power Research Inc to license their BPS-5 advanced power topology.

BPS-5 provides advantages across a wide range of ac-dc and dc-dc power conversion applications through a significant reduction in switching losses within PWM circuits. This switching loss reduction translates to a potential for improved energy efficiency, faster transient response and increased power density when compared to the leading designs currently on the market.

“We are pleased to license our BPS-5 technology to CUI Inc.,” said Fred Barthold, Vice President of Engineering at California Power Research. “We feel this technology aligns well with CUI’s recent entrance into the digital power market and their commitment to bringing advanced power solutions to their expanding customer base,” explained Barthold.

Through its power product line, V-Infinity, CUI manufactures a range of embedded and external power electronics devices for OEM manufacturers.

Waytronx’s President and CEO, William Clough, said: “We are very excited to partner with California Power Research to incorporate their BPS-5 technology into our line of products. Our team has developed a road map based on this technology that we feel will take full advantage of its benefits. This partnership continues our mission to bring the latest advances in power technology to market.”

“This relationship continues to demonstrate our commitment to partner with ‘best-of-breed,’ world-class companies in order to acquire, develop, and commercialize leading-edge technology,” Clough concluded.
