PLANO, USA: Lineage Power Corp., a Gores Group company and the first name in power, today expanded its PicoTLynx DC-DC converter family with another cost-competitive alternative to discrete power designs.
The new 2-amp (A) model is an energy-efficient, non-isolated, point-of-load (POL) converter ideal for numerous low-current DC applications spanning telecom, datacom, networking, medical, industrial, consumer, automotive, and aerospace industries. The small, fast and powerful solution is expected to have an observed MTBF reliability exceeding 3 billion hours.
As part of the Lineage Power Total Efficiency architecture designed to help organizations go green to save green while achieving their sustainability objectives, the 2A PicoTLynx boasts an efficiency of 93.1 percent at 5 Volt (V) out.
This POL converter is capable of continuous full-load operation under extreme conditions up to 85 degrees Celsius (°C) and no air flow. The ruggedized version of this product is capable of full-load operation at 105°C and no air flow.
“The PicoTLynx 2A POL module reduces risks and accelerates new product development schedules with a cost-effective, energy efficient alternative to discrete designs in a small, standards-based footprint,” said Niklas Fallgren, vice president and general manager of Lineage Power’s Embedded OEM division. “Our design assistance services coupled with decades of proven product reliability make this the smart choice for new OEM embedded power applications.”
The PicoTLynx POL converter for distributed DC power systems is part of the TLynx converter product line which offers a small form factor, higher current density, excellent thermal performance, and low ripple. In addition, the product family is very cost effective and delivers additional system-level, cost-reducing elements such as Lineage Power’s Tunable Loop™ feature.
The Tunable Loop feature delivers leading density at the lowest cost implementation, leveraging standards-based Distributed-Power Open Standards Alliance (DOSA) footprints. Tunable Loop functionality allows design engineers to optimize the dynamic response of a POL power solution to match load requirements. The result is up to 70 percent capacitor space reduction at 50 percent lower cost.
The PicoTLynx 2A has a wide-input voltage range from 3V to 14V and a compact 12.2mm x 12.2mm footprint. It is packaged in a nestable and standard DOSA footprint allowing the user to easily drop in the PicoTLynx DC converter module and have the flexibility to operate at the desired power level from 2A to 12A.
Available immediately, the PicoTLynx 2A DC power converter model is available at $1.95 for OEM quantities. For the ruggedized version, customers should request the “D” model.
