Avago announces $40 million optical finger navigation component customer order

SAN JOSE, USA & SINGAPORE: Avago Technologies, a leading supplier of analog interface components for wired and wireless communications, industrial and consumer applications, has received a further order for Optical Finger Navigation (OFN) active components from a significant OFN module manufacturer.

Avago is supplying the optical sensing engines for OFN modules to this manufacturer. The order addresses demand from multiple mobile handset OEMs and is expected to generate sales to Avago in excess of $40 million. This new order relates to anticipated product shipments over the 12 months commencing July 2010.

Avago Technologies is a pioneer in the field of navigation sensors and has made substantial investments over many years developing the fundamental enabling technology behind optical mouse sensors, as well as a number of novel innovations like OFN. In collaboration with this module manufacturer, Avago has been engaged in developing OFN solutions for multiple mobile handset OEMs over the past eighteen months.

“This order confirms Avago as the leading developer and manufacturer of optical navigation sensors for a host of applications, including mobile platforms,” stated Khin-Mien Chong, Avago’s VP and General Manger for Navigation Interface Devices. “We are pleased that our development efforts with this customer have resulted in this important order.”
