Major Taiwanese LED maker places an order for new QC3 diffractometer from Jordan Valley for LED process control

MIGDAL HA'EMEK, ISRAEL: Jordan Valley Semiconductors Ltd. (JVS), a leading provider of advanced metrology solutions for the semiconductor industries, has received multiple orders for its new QC3(tm) diffractometer system from leading LED manufacturers, including Jiangsu Canyang Optroelectronics Ltd (CanYang), a major LED chip manufacturer in Asia.

QC3 is designed and optimized to provide best cost/performance quality control systems for high-brightness LED (HB-LED) manufacturing.

Overall, the HB-LED market is forecast to grow from $5.3 billion in 2009 to $20.2 billion in 2014, which represents a CAGR of 30.6 percent, as cited by Robert V. Steele PhD, Director, Optoelectronics at Strategies Unlimited, at the Strategies in Light Conference in February 2010.

"The purchase of the QC3 system by a market leader such as Can Yang is a testament to Jordan Valley's successful acquisition of Bede in 2008 and leveraging of its technology," said Isaac Mazor, CEO of JVS. "We vastly improved the speed and effectiveness of this metrology tool, while reducing its price, in order to offer an unparalleled cost /performance solution to the rapidly-expanding HB-LED manufacturing market."

Embodying the advantages of the company's other solutions in the semiconductor quality control niche, the QC3 has been configured to provide symmetric and asymmetric measurements for all common semiconductor wafers, such as GaAs, InP, Si, GaN (thick buffers). QC3 is designed for ease of use, reliability, and high performance at unmatched low cost-of-ownership.

CanYang's selection of the JVS's QC3 tool is based on CanYang policy of employing only the most advanced quality control systems in their LED production process. Jordan Valley's solution provides the fastest throughput and highest level of precision and automation, in the most cost-efficient system offered today.

The QC3 tool includes fast reciprocal space mapping in less than 1 minute and 300mm wafer stage with custom wafer-size settings for multiple wafers, as well as full robot automation systems offered for comprehensive factory automation. QC3 hardware is based on JVS's 300mm fully-automated tool range, which provides the ultimate tool stability, throughput and handling.

Recently introduced, the QC3 tool is now available in volume orders, with a delivery schedule of 90 days ARO. QC3 is manufactured by Jordan Valley Semiconductors UK.
