Microtune’s wideband tuner and upstream amplifier deployed in EuroDOCSIS 3.0 products

PLANO, USA: Microtune Inc. announced that its market-leading wideband tuner (MicroTuner MT2170) and its DOCSIS 3.0 upstream amplifier (MicroStreamer MT1570) have been deployed in cable modems that achieved certification status by Cable Europe Labs for the EuroDOCSIS 3.0 specification.

Both products are currently shipping in high volume, and the MT2170, the industry’s first DOCSIS 3.0 wideband tuner, has now shipped well over two million units to date.

This tuner chip is currently deployed in cable equipment for high-speed DOCSIS/EuroDOCSIS 3.0 services that have launched in Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Finland, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.

“We congratulate our customers on their EuroDOCSIS 3.0 certification, and we are proud to support their product, design and engineering efforts with our family of DOCSIS/EuroDOCSIS 3.0 products,” said James A. Fontaine, CEO and President of Microtune.

“Worldwide cable TV operators are relying on DOCSIS 3.0-class certified equipment to support their next generation of high-speed data and video services.”

Fontaine added: “In implementing these advanced cable services, operators in Asia, Europe and North America are addressing different business models, network designs and channel allocation plans. With our tuner and amplifier portfolio, we offer market-proven and customer-hardened products that can be flexibly modularized to meet the needs of varying DOCSIS 3.0 deployment strategies, service scenarios, and products.”

Microtune’s DOCSIS 3.0 technology, including its wideband and narrowband tuners and MT1570 wideband upstream amplifier, has been implemented in DOCSIS 3.0 equipment ranging from ultra high-speed data modems and IPTV set-top boxes to high-end gateways.
