PHOENIX, USA: The Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas business region of Avnet Inc. and Opnext Inc., a global leader in the design and manufacturing of optical modules and components, have signed a distribution franchise agreement. Under the terms of this agreement, Avnet will distribute Opnext’s line of optical products in the Americas.
Established in 2000, and formed out of Hitachi Ltd., Opnext provides customers with more than 30 years of proven design and development experience in the high performance components and optoelectronic devices market.
Opnext products are used in communications, information technologies, and industrial market applications – including laser technologies and laser diodes that light up some of the world’s most advanced transmission technology devices.
"Opnext 10G transceivers and optical products offer the innovative technology and design specifications our customers need to take their applications to new heights of performance," said Alex Iuorio, senior vice president of supplier management for Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas. "Together Avnet and Opnext provide the products, supply chain capabilities and support our customers need to shorten their design time and speed their time to market."
