Microsemi intros 2.4GHz WLAN power amplifier

IRVINE, USA: Microsemi Corp., a leading manufacturer of high performance analog/mixed signal integrated circuits and high reliability semiconductors, has launched volume production of its LX5518 power amplifier (PA) for IEEE 802.11b/g/n wireless LAN applications in the 2.4 to 2.5GHz frequency range.

Microsemi's LX5518 amplifier is optimized for ultra-high linear output power from -40 to +85 degrees C while delivering world-class low power-added efficiency (PAE). It is designed for high-performance applications such as wireless access points and routers that demand improved broadcast range and data rates to accommodate challenging radio frequency transmission environments.

The LX5518 PA meets these challenges by delivering 26.2dBm of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) output power at 3 percent error vector magnitude (EVM) while consuming only 391mA of current for cooler operation.

The LX5518 is in volume production and housed in an RoHS-compliant 16-pin, 3x3x0.9mm quad flat no-lead (QFN) package. Pricing in 10,000-unit quantities is $0.75.
