Home performance program makes CFLs available to West Penn power customers

GREENSBURG, USA: West Penn Power, a FirstEnergy company, will begin providing energy-saving compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) and educational materials to its residential customers as part of the company's Home Performance Program.

West Penn Power customers can call (888) 793-6742 or visit www.mycflkit.com to order the package, which contains six CFLs. Customers will need their West Penn Power account number to place their order. The cost of these CFLs, along with the costs of all energy efficiency programs, are recovered through residential rates in accordance with Pennsylvania Act 129 of 2008. No additional costs or handling fees will be charged to customers who order the CFLs.

"We are happy to offer this program to customers of West Penn Power," said David McDonald, Regional President of West Penn Power. "Using CFLs is one of the easiest ways customers can save both energy and money."

CFLs use up to 75 percent less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs, and can last up to ten times longer, which saves customers up to $40 over the life of the bulb, according to the US government's Energy Star program.
