Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas and TI to deliver technical SpeedWays on data converters

PHOENIX, USA: Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas, a business region of Avnet Inc. announced a five-city SpeedWay technical seminar series focused on data converters. Taught by technical specialists from Avnet and Texas Instruments (TI), these free, one-day classes provide engineers at all levels with a methodology to more easily navigate the entire data converter ecosystem. The seminars run through the middle of December with stops in California, Arizona, Massachusetts, Minnesota and New Jersey.

Taught by Avnet and TI field application engineers, the SpeedWays will cover:
* Data converter basics and architecture: Learn about the most popular analog-to-digital converter (ADC) topologies, including applications and tips to speed selection.
* Translating ADC specifications to system requirements: Using system block diagrams to an engineer’s advantage.
* Tradeoffs and design considerations for microcontrollers: Learn to decipher when an internal data converter is enough.
* Precision data converters from TI: An overview of TI’s extensive portfolio of SAR and delta-sigma ADCs, and digital-to-analog converters (DACs).
* Using TI’s ADCPro to help solve data converter design problems: Learn about basic ADC evaluation test methods and how to select test equipment.
* Which is better: A 12-bit SAR ADC plus a PGA or a 16-bit converter? Discuss options for this difficult design decision with an arsenal of strategies.

“Data converters are one of the most critical components in the signal chain,” said Mike Lanz, signal chain marketing director at TI. “This Avnet SpeedWay series will arm engineers with new knowledge and helpful tips to save time – from ways to quickly select the right data converter to meet design requirements to testing and validating the signal path.”

“Our SpeedWays deliver real-time information for today’s data converter systems,” said Alex Iuorio, senior VP of supplier marketing, Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas. “Together with TI, Avnet’s field application engineers will offer our mutual customers a technical training class that makes the most of their valuable time, while also providing design engineers with application-specific resources they can then use to jump-start their designs.”
