Avnet intros Analog Devices Blackfin BF609 embedded vision starter kit

embedded world 2013, USA: Avnet Electronics Marketing has introduced the Analog Devices Blackfin BF609 Embedded Vision Starter Kit.

This low-cost development kit allows engineers to quickly evaluate the capabilities of the Analog Devices dual-core Blackfin BF609 processor, optimized for embedded vision applications, featuring a high-performance video analytics accelerator called the Pipelined Vision Processor (PVP). Customers can get an early look at the kit, which is being shown at the Silica booth at Embedded World 2013, in Nuremberg, Germany, today through Thursday.

“Video analytics/Embedded Vision is an emerging technology area with extensive use in many different types of applications across multiple markets,” said Jim Beneke, VP, global technical marketing, Avnet Electronics Marketing. “The Analog Devices Blackfin BF609 Embedded Vision Starter Kit essentially eliminates the cost barrier for evaluation, and for customers to have a great out-of-box experience in terms of making it easy to get an analytics algorithm up and running.”

“This low-cost kit is ideal for assessing the capabilities and developing applications for our new vision accelerated BF609 processor,” said Colin Duggan, director of marketing, ESPT division, Analog Devices. “Our goal with the Embedded Vision Starter Kit is to offer a comprehensive platform that provides easy access to a high level of analytic functions to engineers looking to learn about, and develop for, a broad range of vision-based applications.”

The Analog Devices Blackfin BF609 Embedded Vision Starter Kit includes a single board featuring all the blocks necessary to prototype an embedded vision application, including the Analog Devices BF609 dual core processor, a high-definition CMOS color sensor with replaceable lens for video input, HDMI / DVI port for output, 10/100 Ethernet and LED target illumination. The kit also includes a USB-based In-Circuit Emulator providing an easy, portable, non-intrusive, debugging solution for the Kit.
