GRAND CAYMAN: O2Micro International Ltd, a leader in the design, development and marketing of high-performance integrated circuits and solutions, announced that it was issued 20 claims under United
States patent number 8,305,013 for its Circuits and Methods for LED Free Dimming control; a continuation of the invention issued February 2012 under United States patent number 8,111,017.
Free Dimming is O2Micro's dimming technology built into a LED light source. It allows the end-user to toggle dimming control using any standard on/off wall switch.
"This patented technology enables dimming control in LED lighting using an ON/OFF wall switch. The technology saves the cost of installation and compatibility issues associated with traditional incandescent dimmers," said Dr. Yung Lin, executive VP at O2Micro.
