IXYS ICs Division intros power solid state relay (SSR) with 5kv isolation voltage

USA: IXYS Integrated Circuits Division (formerly Clare, Inc.), a wholly owned subsidiary of IXYS Corp. announced the immediate availability of the CPC1907B, +/-6ADC or 6Arms, AC Power SSR. The 1-Form-A CPC1907B is a 60V device with very low 0.06 ohms of on-resistance, offered in the new Power SOIC package.

The new, 8-pin, low-profile Power SOIC package for high-current power relays, provides input to output isolation of 5000Vrms, while optically coupled circuitry provides exceptional noise immunity. Switching of the efficient MOSFET switches is controlled by the photovoltaic die using the patented OptoMOS architecture while activation of the output is controlled by a highly efficient input LED.

The combination of low on-resistance and high load current handling capabilities makes this relay suitable for a variety of high-performance switching applications. 12.5mm of external creepage distance can be achieved with the appropriate printed circuit board layout.

Input control current to the infrared LED for switching is 5mA. This relay can be readily controlled with the Zilog MCUs in a variety of applications under the ‘World of IXYS’ reference designs for power management, especially in reducing energy consumption by turning off power to appliances and subsystems as needed.

Applications include: motor controls, UPS, power supplies, lighting, valve and solenoid controls, security door and gate latches, medical equipment, home appliances, home automation and HVAC controls.

The CPC1907B, available in the 8-pin Power SOIC package, is approved to the UL 508 standard for industrial control equipment.
