Arrow Electronics expands BeMicro SDK platform to motor control

MELVILLE, USA: Arrow Electronics announced the availability of its BeMicro SDK Motor Control kit, made to highlight the ease of developing a motor-control design within a single FPGA device.

By combining the strength of key technology partners such as Altera Corporation, Linear Technology Corporation and SLS, Arrow’s BeMicro SDK Motor Control kit offers a cost-effective, yet versatile evaluation platform for simple motor-control designs as well as countless embedded and industrial applications.

The new BeMicro SDK Motor Control kit expands the capabilities of Arrow's BeMicro SDK platform launched last year. The kit comes complete with DC and stepper motors, reference designs and step-by-step instructions to evaluate and design an FPGA-based motor-control system. Created for industrial embedded engineers, the BeMicro SDK Motor Control kit provides hands-on learning to apply common motor-control concepts using Altera’s intuitive FPGA design tools and methodology.

“We’ve worked closely with our partners at Altera, Linear Technology, and SLS to develop a tool that makes it easy and cost-effective for customers to successfully build a motor-control solution integrated into a single FPGA device,” said David West, VP of supplier marketing and asset management for Arrow Electronics. “Arrow’s BeMicro evaluation boards have proven to be valuable tools for software and hardware design engineers alike.”

“Linear Technology’s products provide data conversion, power management and signal conditioning functions for the BeMicro SDK Control kit,” said Todd Reimund, director of corporate marketing for Linear Technology. “In a limited amount of space, they produce and manage the power and battery-charging requirements, and provide sensing for rugged industrial applications.”
