Redpark ships serial cable and library for use with iPad, iPhone and iPod touch

EMERYVILLE, USA: Redpark Product Development has announced the Redpark Serial Cable that allows hobbyists and higher education customers to connect iPad, iPhone and iPod touch to serial devices. The Redpark Serial Cable is a one meter long RS-232 serial cable with male DB-9 connector. The Serial Cable is used in conjunction with a Redpark Serial Communications (RSC) library. Together these tools enable developers to write iOS apps that communicate with serial devices.

“We’ve been receiving strong interest in serial connectivity from the hobbyist and education communities," explained Redpark president Mike Ridenhour. “We’re pleased to be able to provide tools that will enable these developers to apply the iOS platform in valuable new ways.”

The Redpark Serial Cable - part number C2-DB9 - is compatible with iPad, iPad 2, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch (4th generation).

The Redpark Serial Cable has an MSRP of $59 and is available today.
