Murata closes purchase of Renesas's high-power amplifier business

KYOTO, JAPAN: Murata Manufacturing Co. Ltd has completed the acquisition of the high-power amplifier (PA) business of Renesas Electronics Corp. and the Nagano Device Division of Renesas Eastern Japan Semiconductor Inc. (a wholly owned subsidiary of Renesas, located in Komoro, Nagano Prefecture; "Renesas Eastern Japan Semiconductor Nagano") on March 1st.

Murata already boasts the world's largest share of the market for front-end modules (FEM) for mobile phones, and the strengthening of its PA technology with the new acquisition will enable it to advance the integration of analogue front ends and respond to the diverse needs of its customers.

"The purchase of Renesas's PA business and the acquisition of important active components for mobile phones will see Murata positioned by its customers as an even more important supplier than was previously the case. The integration of FEM and PA modules will enable us to respond without fail to our customers' increasing needs." said Murata's president and representative director, Tsuneo Murata.

"We welcome everyone at Komoro Murata Manufacturing as new members of the Murata team, and we intend to push ahead rapidly with the establishment of a system to promote synergy with our new staff members."
