China BAK strikes deal with Micro Power Electronics

SHENZHEN, CHINA: China BAK Battery Inc., a leading global manufacturer of Li-based battery cells, today announced a three-year Preferred Vendor Agreement with Beaverton, Oregon based Micro Power Electronics (MPE), for lithium-ion cells to be built into sophisticated packs by Micro Power.

Steven Ruth, VP, North American Business of China BAK said: "China BAK is honored to partner with Micro Power, a global leader in portable power systems. We look forward to becoming an integral part of Micro Power's supply chain."

Jerry MacDonald, Micro Power's Global Supply Chain Director said: "Our collaboration with China BAK is the result of a multi-disciplinary company initiative within Micro Power to accelerate program responsiveness and simplify the adoption of new innovative battery technology. We carefully evaluated China BAK's products, manufacturing facilities, quality engineering capabilities and key personnel capabilities. Based on our evaluation, we rank China BAK as a tier-one supplier and are excited to make this initiative a reality."

The scope of the agreement extends beyond cell product technologies into cooperative logistic improvements and exchange of information technology resources to integrate supply chain functions.
