TerraLUX re-locates to new, expanded Longmont site

LONGMONT, USA: In order to continue their strong growth in the solid state lighting sector, TerraLUX Inc. announced that they have re-located the company to a new, expanded headquarters site in Longmont, Colorado.

TerraLUX continues to be one of the fastest growing Cleantech companies in Colorado and have occupied their new facility to house increased personnel as well as expanded laboratory, pilot production and warehouse space.

TerraLUX started 2009 with 7 full-time employees and now numbers 27 full-time and FTE employees with plans to expand to 35 by year’s end. Headcount growth has occurred in sales and operations with ongoing additions in the engineering and quality teams.

This growth is fueled by the success in the solid-state lighting market for portable as well as general lighting and application-specific lighting products in vertical markets such as healthcare, military etc. along with a recent venture capital investment by Emerald Technology Ventures and Access Venture Partners.

As a Boulder County company it was important to TerraLUX that they stay in the area that is so rich in excellent human talent and where the roots of the company are.

“We really felt strongly that we needed to stay close to home,” said Jim Miller, president and CEO. “Boulder County is the home to many great, innovative, entrepreneurial companies and we will continue to foster that mentality within the expanded TerraLUX team. The Longmont site was perfect because it had everything we need in a pretty unique profile for lab space, pilot production, warehouse and office space. Time-to-occupancy and cost were also key factors for us and this location was ideally suited.”

“We are pleased to welcome TerraLUX to Longmont. Their focus on design and R&D, like many of our primary employers, will be an important addition within the growing alternative energy field. We are proud to have them join the corporate community here in Longmont,” commented John Cody, president/CEO of the Longmont Area Economic Council.

Mayor Bryan Baum added: “TerraLUX is the type of company that Longmont is looking for. We're proud and excited to be adding a company that fits the mold for Longmont's future as a leader in clean technology. We would like to welcome the employees into our community. We are confident they will be happy and proud to call Longmont their home.”

The company said it has continued plans to add additional engineering staff to the Longmont site as well. The new location is in The Campus at Longmont, a technology hub for the area and was formerly home to other great companies such as Seagate and Overland Storage. TerraLUX’s new address is: 1830 LeftHand Circle, Suite B, Longmont, CO 80501, USA.
