Arrow Electronics announces supply channel agreement with Ocular

ENGLEWOOD, USA: Arrow Electronics Inc. has announced an agreement with Ocular LCD, Inc. to serve as a distributor of Ocular’s projected capacitive touch panel products in North America.

Arrow customers will have access to Ocular’s Crystal Touch line of touch panels, which incorporates Atmel maXTouch technology, creating a high-performance, smart interface that offers up to 16 simultaneous touch points and can ignore unintended touches.

“As a current Atmel partner, it made sense for us to utilize Arrow’s supply channel since they have a high level of technical expertise with Atmel’s touch controller products,” said Joe Fiamingo, president and CEO of Ocular. “Customers can now purchase a complete touch assembly with Ocular’s projected capacitive sensor and Atmel’s touchscreen controller from a leading provider of products, services and solutions.”

“We’ve had great success providing our customers with Atmel’s leading-edge technology and we are anticipating new opportunities in the capacitive touch panel market,” said Aiden Mitchell, director of supplier marketing for Arrow Electronics. “The ability to sell a touch sensor designed for the Atmel maXTouch controller will give our customers a single source for projected capacitive touch solutions.”

“Ocular’s Crystal Touch panels with maXTouch touchscreen controllers provide a powerful solution for delivering true multitouch function to a variety of applications,” said Jon Kiachian, VP of marketing for touch products at Atmel. “The knowledge and expertise offered by Arrow, Ocular and Atmel help pave the way for this emerging technology to expand into new markets that can benefit from touch.”
