USA: TREK Inc., a designer and manufacturer of high-voltage power amplifiers and high-performance electrostatic instrumentation, will introduce a new high-speed, high-voltage amplifier – Model 10/40A-HS – at the IEEE Pulsed Power & Plasma Science Conference (PPPS 2013) being held June 17-19 in San Francisco, CA.
This new +/-10 kV four-quadrant DC-stable amplifier provides high speed of response with slew rate greater than 900 V/us, high output current to +/-120 mA peak AC, and large signal bandwidth of DC to greater than 23 kHz (-3dB).
Applications include electrostatic deflection (ion beam steering, mass spectrometers, particle accelerators), material characterization (ferroelectrics), plasma (atmospheric plasma, dielectric barrier discharge) and surface modification (for enhanced adhesion, biocompatibility, performance).
Additional applications include AC or DC biasing, delta tan testing, dielectrics testing, electroactive polymers (EAP), electrocoalescence, electrophoresis, electrorheological fluids, electro-optic modulation, electrospinning, fusion research, high power semiconductor testing, insulation breakdown testing, material poling and quadra-pole ion trap.
This new amplifier will enable technological advancement in many industries including aerospace, automotive, biotechnology, defense, electronics, energy, instrumentation, laboratory, military, power, semiconductors, and telecommunications.
Model 10/40A-HS features an all-solid-state design to deliver high slew rate, wide bandwidth and low-noise operation. This amplifier provides precise control of output voltages in the range of 0 to +/-10 kV DC or peak AC with an output current range of 0 to +/-40 mA DC or +/-120 mA peak AC for 1 ms. It is configured as a non-inverting amplifier with a fixed gain of 1000 V/V.
The four-quadrant, active output stage sinks or sources current into reactive or resistive loads throughout the output voltage range. This is essential for achieving the accurate output response and high slew rates demanded by reactive loads. Model 10/40A-HS is protected against over-voltage and over-current conditions that may be generated by active loads or by output short circuits to ground.
Precision voltage and current monitors provide low-voltage representations of the high-voltage output and load current for monitoring purposes or for use as feedback signals in a closed loop system.
The remote high-voltage on/off feature provides a connection for a remote device to turn on/off the high-voltage output, making Model 10/40A-HS suitable for automated or computer-controlled systems. It is CE compliant.
